Maths Portfolio Sample

Description: in maths we have been working with troy. We have been focusing on mutipling and dividing decimals. When wim not working with troy i am doing work from my NZCM stage 7 book. In stage 7 I have been focusing on propositional ajusment. My go to strategy would be known facts.

Image:

Big Idea: my goal is to use the most effective stratigy for the question I get.

in the second question I did known facts and splitting. I split 176 into 160 &16 when I work out that 5x32 = 160 and you can't divide 16 by 32 so you will need 6 buses because you can't have half a bus or leave 16 people behind.

The first strategy I  used known facts. I went 30x5= 150 & 2x5=10 then I added 10+150 witch equals 160 so you need another bus so you don't leave anyone behind. So you get 6 buses.

In the third picture I used kf. I went 15x13=195 then I went 13x.10=1.30 then I - 1.30 off and got 193.70. Sorry I got the 2.30 wrong it was 1.30.

In the fourth picture I used PVP. I split the 14.90 into 14 and 90 and went 14x13 which equals 182 & 90x13=1170 but then you have to put the decimal back in so you have 11.70. Then you add 182 & 11.70 which gives you an answer of 193.70. Comment below if you got a different answer on any of the questions what it was and how you got it.

Feedback/feedforward: I think you have done well getting two strategies for two questions quickly to. just You can name your strategies so it is easier. By Maraki

Evaluation: I reckon I did well on using the most effective stratigy because I got quick effective answers on most of them but next time I will try to use the best stratigy on all of the questions.

Pop art portfolio sample

Description: every Thursday we do pop art with Kate. Pop art as art were you split your page into quarters and do the same picture in each quarter then paint it different bright poppy colours. The most famous pop art maker is andy worhol.

Big Idea: We used a stencil to creat our shape the we painted the shape contrasting colours like above.

Feedback: yor art is really good and it has improved since last time you did art also because it is neater.
Feedforward: you could work a bit more on staying inside the lines and not going over coulers with the same couler.

Evaluation: I think I did well because it was way neater but I could use brighter colours.

Writing portfolio sample

Description: my goal in writing is I have ideas about what to write. I chose this goal because I wasn't very good at it. This was our inspiration for our writing:

Trapped

The cat called Johnson glanced around furiously looking for something, anything to help him escape. The continuous taunts of the bird named Billy was mucking up his brain, big time. The mischievous bird had trapped him 3 days ago.

He was in the lounge next to the big glass window searching, from behind the metal bars. He spotted a big black dog outside. The exact same dog he plays with, Bob. He knew Bob would rescue him if he saw him. He had to signal him some how without Billy knowing. Then he had a brain wave. The dog and cat distress call. Billy wouldn't know the distress call. Hannnnnnnnnn  hannnnnnnnn hannnnnnnnnn Johnson cried with his mouth closed. Bob ears pricked up when he heard the call. He gazed around and spotted Billy. Bob went to get his friends Ryan the Rottweiler and  Penelope the Pit Bull to rescue Billy. Lets go and attack. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Woof woof squawk squawk. Billy flew away as fast as he could. Freedoooom screeched Johnson. I'm free I'm free I'm free. They lived happily ever after until...

Big idea: we used prompts like hear feel and see to describe what was happening.  We did a quick brain storm about a problem and a resolution.

Feedback/feedforward: I reckon you could structure your story better so when your audience reads it they can understand better. I think you did well at adding hooking words at the start and descriptive words.
#Jaiden

Evaluation: I think I have acheved my goal because as soon as looked at the picture I hade an idea. My next step would be changing my idea more often.

Ora Life

ODescription: every Friday we work on our garments for production. Our main idea is ora life but some of the other thing we got to do are up cycling and wearable art.Up Cycling is were you give something old and used a new life.   We hade three different themes to chose from they were heros and villains, elements and out of Africa. I am in heros and villains. I chose hero and villains because straight away I had an idea. Here is what I hope my garment will look like.

Images:

So far I have made my fabric smock and my paper mashay mask. This afternoon I am going to paint my mask white and start making feathers

1) The materials that I used to create my garment were: felt fabric, old pillow case, paper mashay and paper cone.

2) The most challenging thing about production for me was: getting my garment done on time because  the head peace.

3) One way I demonstrated a growth mindset during production was: when my body peace failed I kept on going and adopted a new strategy.

4) Something I am really proud of about production was: my head peace because it came out exactly how I wanted it to.

5) Our school vision is to create agency, creativity and excellence. I showed this by: bending my wing to make myself look like an old veteran. Creativity.

Feedback/feedforward: next time you could make your wings more clear that there wings. I like how you add lots of colour.

Evaluation: I like my garment because i like a book about a old hero I represented this by making my bird old like him.

Story Wheel

I read a story on kiwi kids new about a packet of Jellybeans with disgusting flavours. Some were pepper and the ones above.

Reading portfolio sample

Description: in reading we have been doing tic-tac-toe activities. They are a bunch of activities that help with your goal ether summarising or questioning. I chose summarising. This is the tic tac toe I chose. Summarising is when you make a story shorter but keep all the main points. First I had to read the article and note take. After that you had to write a little story with your main words.

Bionic Eye

  • Ryan Flynn got the world's first bionic eye. He wears special glasses that have a little camera in them. It sends video images as electrical pulses to electrodes Implanted in the back of his eye. The main surgeon is Professor Paulo Stanga. I reckon this could fix blindness in the world but each bionic eye costs heaps of money. The other problem would be that it would take ages for the surgeons to complete the surgery.

Big idea: The learning involved in this activity is learning to summarise. I learnt that you have to read it more than once to be able to summarise it.

Feedback/Feedforward: I like how you explained a lot in your piece, but next time make your summary shorter. #Tane

Evaluation:I think I did well because I used all the main points but next time I will try to make my summarise a bit shorter.
